How YouTube Automation Is Harming Creativity

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a central part of our daily lives, with its applications extending to nearly every technological area. On YouTube, AI has become a powerful tool, especially for content creation. While using AI to generate ideas or optimize descriptions with strong keywords is understandable, the recent trend of fully automated content creation is concerning.

Millions of YouTube Shorts are produced daily using AI tools, but this trend raises questions about its impact on creativity. The overreliance on AI in content creation, where videos are 100% automated, strips away the personal touch that makes content unique. Instead of offering original thoughts, some channels are cropping content from top creators, adding AI-generated subtitles and voiceovers, and re-uploading the content to their own channels.

This practice is not only deceptive but also undermines the value of genuine creativity. Many of these automated channels mimic the names of popular creators, leading to accidental subscriptions from viewers who watch shorts under a minute long and may need to realize they’re not subscribing to the original creator.

This strategy may seem like an easy way to gain followers and monetize a channel, but it’s often tied to “get rich quick” schemes that don’t require producing original content.

While some channels might have benefited from these practices in the past, YouTube’s policies are becoming stricter, and these shortcuts are unlikely to work in the long run. As the platform continues to evolve, relying solely on AI for content creation may soon become a waste of time, as originality and authenticity remain the key drivers of success on YouTube.

While AI has its place in content creation, it’s important to strike a balance. Creativity and personal expression should not be sacrificed for automation. The future of YouTube will always belong to those who bring their unique voice and vision to their content.
